Facts about Composite Decking...

  • Composite decking is made from a combination of sawdust and a plastic resin binder. Because it is made from the waste that is left from other wood products, no trees need to be cut down specifically for the purpose of making composite decking.
  • Because it is made from wood, just like traditional wood decks, composite can be installed in much the same way.
  • Composite decking can be nailed, screwed and sawed as usual. As an added benefit, composite decking doesn't release any VOCs (Volatile Organic Compound) when sawed.
  • Composite Decking is made from a mixture of recycled wood, plastic, and other sophisticated micro ingredients that help protect the decking from harmful weather.
  • Composite Decking never needs painting, it resists rotting, mold growth, and splintering (like real wood products), and it's easy to install. And, since it's made from recycled wood, it's an "earth friendly " product !!!


When installing : maintain a 3/16" gap between boards to allow for water drainage to prevent mold and mildew growth. Pre-drill the boards (with 1/8" diameter holes) and countersink to prevent the screws from "mushrooming" the hole. Use joist spacing of 16" on center (12" o.c. if running boards diagonally).
